The MEA1689 is a cable booster module for long cable applications. It utilizes RedMere's unique technology for V1.3 and V1.4 HDMI high speed cables. Data rates up to 3.4Gbps are supported. The RM1689's embedded technology provides active equalization functionality without requiring an external power source. Each data channel is individually equalized and an I2C rise time accelerator is used to compensate for DCC interoperability issues seen particularly on long cables.

The MEA1689 is a compact module which fits inside the sink-side casing of an active HDMI cable assembly.
