High-speed differential cable design is centred on the trade-off of manufacturing cost versus data-rate performance requirements over length. As performance demands increase, two key technical issues, i.e. propagation delay between the positive and negative terminals of a pair or intra-pair skew and high-frequency bandwidth suppression, become more difficult to solve. These two fundamental problems cause common-mode noise (cross-talk, EMI) and increased rise times and reduced amplitudes which mean that data becomes virtually impossible to recover.
RedMere's MagnifEye™ unique patent-pending technology solves these two problems either in the receiver (TV, LCD monitor or AV receiver) or embedded within a cable. MagnifEye™’s adaptive equalization applies gain to the high-frequancy signal components as a function of the frequency loss detected. However, equalization alone only solves part of the problem. MagnifEye™’s adaptive differential de-skew realigns the positive and negative terminals of a signal pair as a function of the delay between them, recovering data skewed by +/- one bit. As MagnifEye™ is a fully adaptive solution, it guarantees full performance over the widest conditions.
